The Esperanto Football Team made its first appearance in the Copenhagen Art Parade 20 May 2006. The participation is a part of La Loko's lobbying campaign to get an Esperanto team to qualify for the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The Esperanto Football Team offers international football without national chauvinism. The Esperanto Football Team is sponsored by the Danish Arts Foundation.
