The object Language uses objects instead of words. The objects, put together according to a grammar, form sentences. A 32 page grammar book for beginners (LANGUE OBJET; initiation) presents the fundamental rules of the language.

På Hovedet, Main Municipal Library of Copenhagen, 2000
19 objects on one of the bookcases of the Library in the department for Literature. Each object is provided with a bar code and can be loaned by people who are registered just as they would do with a book. The loan is limited to one week but can be extended. When an object is loaned out, it is replaced by a plaque showing a photo of the object and informing that the object is loaned out. The 19 objects are: a pillow, a disco ball, a cactus, an umbrella, a forehead lamp, a plinth, a chess clock, hearing protectors, a salad spinner, a pipe, a canvas, a toothbrush, a hammer, a pair of boxing gloves, a superman Tshirt, a motor, a drill, a pair of shoes and a pot.

8 cardboard boxes with objects classified in French phonetic rhymes. Above each box, a list of the objects is attached on the wall and a headphone with the sound of my voice enumerating all the objects is hanging.
doing nothing special
Copenhagen, 2001/2002
In December and January of 2001/2002, I set up a site on one of the main squares of Copenhagen. Almost every day I sat down in the middle of the crowd – in sessions of two hours maximum because of the cold. As equipment I had a camping table, a chair, four stools, a Thermos with tea or hot chocolate, a mobile phone, sometimes a book, a note book and warm clothes. I spent my time on reading, writing, sketching future projects, meetings with friends or professional meetings, chatting with passers-by, relaxing, observing and reflecting in general...
når snegle elsker... / when snails make love...

A 15 min. long video giving the chance to see closeups from different angles of a real snail mating. The film is instructive, romantic and sensual at the same time. It is intended for the whole family (children and adults) and for other nature lovers. Sold in the zoo shop for only 99kr.

During the 17 days the show was open I played sound effect records through two open windows of the gallery space. The sounds were as various as bird songs, gun shots, party atmospheres, weather, demonstrations or traffic...

im hause / at home

The point of departure for the making of Im Hause was a german LP record with sound effects Geraüsche in Stereo. The side 1 of this record was called Im Hause and contained thirty sounds from “at home” such as working in the kitchen, pooring water, dishwasher, drill, musical clocks etc... I “postsynchronized” these sounds with my own video recordings. The soundtrack remained unedited.

MIAMI was especially made for the exhibition Postproduction. It was shot just outside of the gallery and in the kiosk on the other side of the street. It presents a woman played by a professional actress, and a shopkeeper played by the shopkeeper himself. The woman enters the kiosk, buys a bottle of water and leaves. The dialog is postsynchronized in german. The rest of the soundtrack is exclusively made out of prerecorded sounds. The video was sold in the kiosk.

A jukebox in the museum gives the “viewer” the possibility to listen to recordings of my private life. The approximately 700 tracks are done over a month and are sortered out in 56 categories (56 CDs) as for example: cooking, alone at home, television, bedroom, sleeping, on the telephone, chess, bathroom, brushing teeth, urinating, zoo, city exteriors, cemetary, fleamarket, art fair, after party art fair, cocktail bar, club, restaurants, vietnamese late night restaurant, transport in car, metro, tram, lecture, canteen, computer work, music practice and many more...
